commissions / custom work
The commission process begins with a conversation, a dialogue. It's my intent to design and produce an original piece that fits your aesthetic, your home, your life.
Generally, once a design is developed, we move on to material selection. Choosing wood species can be surprisingly complex. If you're local to the Santa Barbara area, we might even head to the lumberyard together and pick out the boards that will eventually be milled into your new piece of furniture.
My standards for my work are very high, and that is doubly true for anything that will go to someone else. You can trust that every detail will be considered, every step taken to produce the highest quality work.
pricing and timelines
As we develop a design and select materials, I will be able to determine a price for the piece. If we decide to move forward, 50% of the agreed-upon price is paid as work begins and the remainder is paid upon delivery. Timing will depend upon the status of the queue and the complexity of the work. Rough timelines will be discussed before work begins, and I remain available to communicate regarding your piece as it progresses. You would be welcome to visit the shop and see how it's coming along as well, though you may have to pick up a broom and sweep up.
For larger furniture pieces, I am currently not shipping my work. I am in Santa Barbara, CA and will happily discuss delivery options for somewhat local commissions.
For smaller pieces, please contact me and we can determine shipping options.
Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you.
